Health and Hope in Kibiti, Tanzania
The Kibiti District in Tanzania is a coastal region facing severe challenges due to the global water crisis. Families here are locked in a daily struggle for survival, often depending on unprotected, shallow wells and surface water sources that are frequently contaminated with sediment, runoff, and agricultural waste.
This critical lack of safe, clean water is directly responsible for a high prevalence of devastating waterborne diseases, including cholera, dysentery, and persistent parasitic and diarrheal illnesses, tragically trapping the community in a cycle of sickness and poverty.
At Amity Global Foundation, we believe this suffering is entirely preventable.
Our Local Partnership with the World of Peace Foundation Initiative
To ensure maximum impact and true sustainability, Amity Global Foundation proudly partners with the World of Peace Foundation (meaning ‘Hope’ in Swahili), a trusted local charity operating directly within the Kibiti District.
This collaboration allows us to:
- Deeply understand the specific hydrological challenges and social needs of the community, particularly in remote villages.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and local ownership of the water resources.
- Rapidly deploy resources and expertise to where they are needed most.
Together, we are not just installing a water well, we are building community resilience and trust.
The Solution is Constructing Safe Water Wells and Boreholes
Our primary intervention in the Kibiti District is the construction of deep, protected water wells and boreholes.
These projects are vital because they:
- Stop Disease: By tapping into clean, deep groundwater, we immediately eliminate the community’s reliance on contaminated surface water sources, drastically reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases, such as cholera.
- Empower Women and Children: Women and children no longer have to spend hours every day walking long distances to fetch water, freeing up children to attend school and adults to engage in economic activities.
- Ensure Reliability: The wells are built to last, providing a reliable, year-round source of fresh water, which is crucial for hygiene and agriculture, even during the dry season.
Our Goal: To bring permanent, clean water access to every village in the Kibiti District that is currently suffering from water-related illnesses and scarcity.
