The Budaka District in Uganda is one of the regions hit hardest by the global water crisis. Families here face a daily struggle for survival, relying on contaminated ponds and streams for their drinking, cooking, and sanitation needs. This lack of safe, clean water is directly responsible for a high prevalence of devastating waterborne diseases, including typhoid, cholera, and persistent diarrheal illnesses, trapping the community in a cycle of sickness and poverty.
At Amity Global Foundation, we believe this suffering is entirely preventable.
Our Local Partnership with Rahama Relief Foundation
To ensure maximum impact and true sustainability, Amity Global Foundation proudly partners with the Rahama Relief Foundation, a trusted local charity operating directly within the Budaka District.
This collaboration allows us to:
- Deeply understand the specific geological and social needs of the community.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and local ownership of the water resources.
- Rapidly deploy resources and expertise to where they are needed most.
Together, we are not just installing infrastructure, we are building community resilience and trust.
The Solution is Constructing Safe Water Wells
Our primary intervention in the Budaka District is the construction of deep, protected water wells.
These wells are vital because they:
- Stop Disease: By tapping into clean, deep groundwater, we immediately eliminate the community’s reliance on contaminated surface water sources, drastically reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases.
- Save Time: Women and children no longer have to spend hours every day walking long distances to fetch water, freeing up children to attend school and adults to engage in economic activities.
- Ensure Reliability: The wells are built to last, providing a reliable, year-round source of fresh water, even during dry seasons.
Our Goal: To bring permanent, clean water access to every village in the Budaka District that is currently suffering from water-related illnesses.
