In the aftermath of devastating floods that swept through Interior Sindh, Pakistan, the community of Sujawal village was left in ruins. They lost everything— their school, their masjid, and even their source of water. The situation was dire, and the villagers were in desperate need of assistance to rebuild their lives.
At Amity Global Foundation, we knew we had to take action, and thus began the first step in our vision of creating a self-sustaining model village in Sujawal.
Our initial focus was on restoring the community’s spiritual and educational foundations by constructing Masjid Mustafa. This masjid serves as a dual-purpose hub—a place of worship for the adults and a school for the children. It is not just a building; it is a symbol of hope, faith, and the first step toward recovery.
The masjid offers the community a space to pray, gather, and rebuild their connection with one another and with their faith. Additionally, the attached school allows children to resume their education, which had come to a standstill after the floods washed away their original learning center.
The Amity team personally visited Sujawal to see the progress of Masjid Mustafa and meet with the community members. We spent time with the villagers, listening to their stories of resilience and distributing food to celebrate the completion of the masjid. The smiles and gratitude on their faces reflected the significance of this project. This isn’t just a building—it’s the heart of a community rising again.
While the masjid has been successfully built, we now face the challenge of ensuring that it continues to run smoothly and serves the community for years to come. To maintain the masjid and school, and to keep them operational as part of our vision for a self-sustaining village, we need to raise $5,000.
This funding will go toward operational costs, ensuring that Masjid Mustafa remains a beacon of hope, education, and spiritual guidance for Sujawal’s residents. With your support, we can ensure that this community continues to thrive, long after the initial crisis has passed.
This is just the beginning. Masjid Mustafa marks the first step in transforming Sujawal into a model village where families can rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. But we can’t do it alone.
